If You Are Between 25 to 34 – You Are More Likely to Complain and Comment Through Social Media

August 10, 2010 by Tal Sliwowicz

Lately I ran across an interesting survey. Our sister company, Invoke Solutions recently did a live research event and naturally they turned to groketeer to analyze some of the results.

Although I am not a researcher, I have decided to access the data on groketeer myself, with Invoke’s permission. I do this all the time with different data sets and I provide feedback to our development team – because they are constantly working to improve the product.

Loading the data was a breeze. After loading the data, everything was (of course) charted. I randomly picked a question regarding direction of complaints and comments (social media vs. traditional methods) and crossed it with another question – age group by adding it as a “Filter”. I immediately got the answer, and not surprisingly, younger people tend to use social media to complain and comment, while older people are more likely to revert to traditional methods.

Looking at the original question without applying the filters simply did not tell the story of how preferences change for different age groups! This was very easy to do – just one click, so anyone using our product can definitely take advantage of it.

With one more click I then saved the slide I created as PowerPoint™ file on my desktop.

The full result is below. I will keep looking at this data set for more interesting bits of information and will update the blog soon.
